Squad rules
Record the competition's squad limits per season and check the squad and upcoming deals against them.
Recruitment & transfers → Squad rules holds the competition limits for a season: squad size, registration quotas, loans and the salary cap. Agones checks them against the current squad and against the squad as it would be once the deals close to completion go through.
Squad rules only warn. A deal is never blocked by a rule.
Season and team
The season selector at the top chooses the season. The rules apply to the team selected in the top bar; when that team has no rules of its own, the rules for the whole club apply. Seasons are managed under Teams and seasons.
Set up the rules
The Rules card holds the limits. Leave a field empty for no limit.

Apply A-League template fills in the A-League Men limits as a starting point. Check every number against the current competition rules before selecting Save rules.
Members with write access to recruitment (the Football Director and the Recruitment role) can change the rules. Others see them read-only.
Rule types

The registered squad leaves out trialists, players out on loan and players who are no longer at the club.
Compliance now and projected
The compliance table shows, per rule, the Limit, the count Now, the Projected count and the Status:

Projected starts from the current squad, adds the players in incoming deals at the Approval or Completion stage, and removes players with an outgoing deal at the Agreed stage. For an incoming loan, the salary counts at the share the club pays. A note under the table lists exactly which deals are included.
Above the table, warnings summarize what needs attention:
- A red warning for a rule that is outside its limit now.
- An amber warning for a rule that would go outside its limit, naming the players: for example over the limit if a named player signs, or below a minimum if a named player leaves.
Counts are made on today's date when it falls within the season, otherwise on the first or last day of the season. The date is shown above the table.
Registration categories
Quotas depend on each player's registration category: Visa, Marquee, Designated, Homegrown, Scholarship or Guest. The category is not derived from nationality; it is set per player.
The Registration categories section lists the registered squad grouped by category, including players with No category. The Football Director can set the category here or under Registration on the player profile. For a target in an incoming deal, the category on the target's profile is used in the projection.
