Getting started

Navigating Agones

The sidebar, the top bar, search, themes and how Agones behaves on smaller screens.

Agones has two fixed areas around the page content: the sidebar on the left for moving between screens, and the top bar for the team and season, search, notifications, help and the account menu.

The sidebar lists the screens in sections. Each section after Squad belongs to one module, so a section only appears when the club has that module and the member's role includes it.

SquadSquad Management, Squad Depth
ScoutingOverview, Targets, Profiles
Recruitment & TransfersOverview, Pipeline, Offers, Shortlists, Outgoing, Transfers, Contacts, Squad rules
AdministrationDocuments, Members, Settings

Offers only appears for roles that can see salaries and contract amounts. See Roles and permissions and Modules.

Collapsing sections

Click a section heading to collapse it. A collapsed section still shows the screen that is currently open, so the current location stays visible. Click the heading again to expand it.

Collapsing to an icon bar

The button next to the club name switches between Collapse sidebar and Keep sidebar open. Collapsed, the sidebar becomes a narrow bar with icons only. Hovering over it, scrolling on it or moving keyboard focus into it opens it temporarily over the page, without moving the content; Esc closes it again.

The sidebar state and collapsed sections are remembered in the browser. The bottom of the open sidebar shows the current Agones version.

Top bar

Team and season

The picker on the left shows the current team and season, for example a team name followed by a season such as 2026/27. Click it to open two columns: teams on the left, the seasons of the selected team on the right.

  • Choosing a team switches immediately. Agones keeps the same season if that team plays in it, otherwise it moves to the team's current season.
  • Choosing a season applies the selection and closes the picker.
  • The club's current season is marked Current.

Teams and seasons are set up under Teams and seasons.

What follows the picker

Not every screen depends on a team or a season. The picker shows this: on a screen that covers the whole club it turns gray and does not open, and on a screen that only follows the season the team is grayed out. Hovering over the picker explains why.

Within a player profile, only the scouting score, the team line in the header and the Scouting tab follow the selection; the score is labeled with its season, for example Scouting score · 2026/27. The contract, value, notes, documents and history belong to the player, not to a season. The Seasons tab shows every season side by side.

Search and commands

The search field opens a command window, also with ⌘K on a Mac or Ctrl K on Windows, from anywhere in Agones. ⌘K again or Esc closes it.

  • Actions at the top: New deal, Add target, Upload document, Invite member and switching between light and dark mode. Each action only appears for roles that may perform it.
  • Go to: every page in the sidebar, plus Notifications and My Account when searching.
  • Search: type at least two characters to find players, deals and documents, grouped by type.
  • Team and season: type a team or season name to switch to it.
  • Help: the latest release notes, the help center and Sign out.

Use the arrow keys to move and Enter to open. Search follows modules and permissions: targets only appear with Scouting, deals only with Recruitment & transfers, and documents only at the access levels the member's role can open. A document attached to a player opens that player's profile.

Notifications

The bell shows a dot when there is something new, a squad change from Hudl StatsBomb or something that is due. See Notifications.

Help and what's new

The question-mark button opens What's new: the latest release with its highlights, followed by Earlier releases. A dot on the button means there is a release that has not been opened yet. Only highlights about the base platform and about the club's own modules are shown. The links at the bottom open the Full changelog and the Help center in a new tab.

Account menu

The circle with initials on the far right opens the account menu. It shows the member's name, role and email address, and a Read only label for roles that cannot change anything. From the menu:

  • My Account opens profile, security and preferences. See My Account.
  • Plan & billing opens the club's plan. See Plan and billing.
  • Dark mode or Light mode switches the theme.
  • Sign out ends the session in this browser.

Light and dark theme

Agones starts in the light theme. Switch from the account menu, or choose under My Account → Preferences. The choice is saved per browser, so a laptop and a tablet can use different themes.

Smaller screens

On narrow screens, such as a phone or a small tablet:

  • The sidebar is hidden. Open it with the menu button at the top left; it closes after choosing a screen, with the close button or by tapping outside it.
  • The search field is hidden from the top bar.
  • The team and season picker opens across the full width of the screen.
  • On the notifications page, Needs attention and Hudl StatsBomb move above the activity list.
