How scores work

How a player's overall score, squad status and flag are built from metrics, judgement and age fit.

A score measures how well a player fits a role profile. It combines measured performance from Hudl StatsBomb with the club's own judgement and the player's age, and every step is visible on the Scouting tab of the player profile.

The building blocks

PartSource
MetricsUp to eight per profile, each with a target and a weight. Values come from Hudl StatsBomb or are entered by hand.
JudgementPotential, Rating, Availability and Character, each on a scale of 1 to 100, entered by the club
Age fitThe player's age compared with the profile's ideal age range

Metrics score

Each metric value is compared with the profile's target. Meeting the target exactly scores 100; doing better scores more, up to a cap of 120, so one outstanding metric has a limited effect. For metrics marked lower is better, a value below the target scores above 100.

The metric scores are then combined according to their weights into the Metrics score. The score card shows the value, target, weight and score of every metric.

Judgement

Under Judgement, the four factors record the club's own read on the player. Save judgement stores a new assessment and keeps the previous ones, so the trend stays visible. A factor left empty counts as zero, which pulls the overall score down; fill in all four for a fair score.

Age fit

A player inside the profile's ideal age range gets the full age fit. Outside it, the age fit decreases the further the age is from the middle of the range. When the age or the range is unknown, a neutral value is used.

Overall score

The Overall score combines the metrics score with judgement and age fit. The metrics score carries the largest share, 60%; judgement and age fit make up the rest. The overall score is rounded to one decimal, and that rounded value determines the status and flag.

Squad status

The overall score places the player in a squad status band:

StatusOverall score
Elite Core92 and up
Core Starter85 to 92
First Team78 to 85
Rotation70 to 78
Development62 to 70
WatchlistBelow 62

Each band includes its lower bound: a score of exactly 78.0 is First Team.

Flags

Each score also gets one flag, checked in this order:

FlagMeaning
UndervaluedAn overall score of 78 or more combined with a low or unknown current market value
PriorityA transfer score of 80 or more and a resale score of 75 or more
ReviewAvailability or character judged below 65
MonitorNone of the above

Transfer, resale and value

Next to the overall score, the score card shows three supporting figures:

  • Transfer score: builds on the overall score and the judgement factors.
  • Resale score: looks ahead, using potential, age fit, availability and character, with a lower current market value counting in its favor.
  • Value estimate: derived from the current market value, the transfer score and age. It is only shown when both age and market value are known.

Data coverage

A metric without a value is left out, and the remaining weights carry the score. A score needs at least one metric with a value. The score card shows how many metrics are filled, for example 6 of 8 filled. When a score rests on fewer metrics than the profile holds, a note says so: the score then reads a little more confident than it is. The targets list shows the same coverage next to the score.

Values that come from Hudl StatsBomb are marked Hudl and cannot be edited. Metrics without a data feed, including custom metrics, are marked manual only until a value is entered.

When scores are calculated

  • Calculate or Recalculate on the Scouting tab calculates the score for the season selected in the top bar.
  • Assign roles on Scouting → Overview scores each player straight away in the chosen role.
  • Every night, Hudl StatsBomb is checked for new match data. New figures and minutes for players already in Agones are applied automatically, and the scores of those players are recalculated in every role they are judged in. This requires a connected Hudl StatsBomb integration.

Every calculation is kept, with the moment it was made, so a score can be traced back later. A change to a profile's metrics, targets or weights takes effect from the next calculation.

Which season counts

On the overview, the targets list and the profile pages, a score uses the selected season once the player has 900 minutes in it, and the previous season otherwise. See Scouting overview.
