Role profiles
Standard and club profiles, their metrics, targets and weights, and how players are assigned to them.
A role profile defines what a role asks of a player and how a player in that role is scored. Profiles are listed under Scouting → Profiles, with a pitch sketch, a short description, the number of metrics, the ideal age range and the number of players judged in the role.
Standard and club profiles
| Standard profiles | Club profiles | |
|---|---|---|
| Source | Included with the module, the same for every club | Created by the club |
| Label | standard | own |
| Changes | Read-only | Metrics, targets, weights, requirements and positions can be changed |
| Delete | Not possible | Possible when no players are judged in the role |
A standard profile means the same thing for every club, so it cannot be changed. To use different targets or weights, create a club profile starting from a copy: a score against a tuned profile should not carry the same name as the original.
On the profiles page, Your club is listed first. The Standard group can be collapsed with the arrow next to its heading; the choice is remembered per member.
Create a club profile
Start a new profile
Go to Scouting → Profiles and select New profile.
Fill in the basics
Enter a Name, a description under What this role is, and optionally Ideal age min and Ideal age max. The ideal age range feeds the age fit in the score.
Choose a starting point
Under Start from, choose Empty to pick metrics and positions from scratch, or Copy of an existing profile. A copy brings the metrics with their targets and weights, the requirements and the positions on the pitch. The original stays as it is.
Create and complete
Select Create profile. The new profile opens, ready for metrics and positions.
Metrics, targets and weights
The How it's scored section lists the profile's metrics. A profile holds up to eight. For each metric:
- Target is the level that counts as fully meeting the role's demand.
- Weight is how much the metric counts within the profile. The weights should add up to 100; the header shows the total and a warning when it differs.
- A lower is better label marks metrics where a lower value is the better one, such as turnovers.
On a club profile, edit a target or weight directly in the table; the change is saved on leaving the field or pressing Enter. The trash icon removes a metric from the profile.
Add a metric
Select Add metric and choose from Your club or Standard metrics. The Target is suggested from the profiles that already use the metric, and the Weight is suggested as what remains up to 100, spread over the free slots. Both can be changed before saving.
Create a custom metric
Choose + New metric of your own… at the bottom of the list, enter a Name and choose Better when: Higher is better or Lower is better. A custom metric becomes available to all of the club's profiles.
A custom metric has no data feed. Its value is entered by hand per player on the Scouting tab of the player profile. The same applies to the few standard metrics that Hudl StatsBomb does not supply; they are marked manual only on the score card.
Changes to metrics, targets or weights apply from the next calculation of a score. Existing scores keep the values they were calculated with.
What the role asks for
What this role asks for groups the role's requirements under Technical, Tactical, Physical, Cognitive and Also. Each row opens to show its points. On a club profile, the pencil icon turns a row into a text field; separate the points with commas. Where present, The club's own benchmarks appear below the metrics table.
Positions on the pitch
The pitch sketch shows where the role plays. On a club profile without positions, select Mark where this role plays; otherwise select Edit below the sketch. Choose a shape (4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2 or Zones), click the positions the role plays in and select Save positions. Switching shape keeps the selected positions that sit in roughly the same place.
Assign a player to a profile
A player is scored against their main profile. To set it, open the player profile, go to the Scouting tab and choose a profile from the list at the top; club profiles are marked (own). Choosing another profile later makes that the main profile; the previous assignment is kept as a second role.
Squad players without a role can also be assigned in one go with Assign roles on Scouting → Overview.
Each profile page lists the Players in this profile, with their status, the season and minutes behind the score, and the overall score. Players who have the profile as a second role are marked (2nd role).
Delete a club profile
Delete profile sits at the bottom of a club profile. It is only available when no players are judged in the role; otherwise, move those players to another role first. Deleting removes the role and its metrics for the club and cannot be undone.
Permissions
Creating, changing and deleting club profiles requires a role that can make changes in Scouting; see Roles and permissions.
